He will not seek Trump’s “desirable thinking” for a fourth term

CHAINE, Vio. (AP) – Liz Cheney told Wednesday that former President Donald Trump’s assumption that he will not be re-elected next year is a “desirable idea.”

Trump on Tuesday suggested that the Wyoming congresswoman become a lobbyist or “maybe ashamed of her family by running for president” to save face amid criticism of impeachment of Trump in the January 6 riots in the US Capitol.

In a telephone conversation with Weyoming reporters, Cheney thwarted any such idea.

“I’m fully committed to winning my primary election, to winning the votes of the people of Wyoming,” Cheney said.

“It’s a critical moment to make sure we have the strongest person in Washington who fights for our values, fights on behalf of our energy industry, our industry, our families,” added Cheney, the eldest daughter of former Vice President Dick. Cheney

Cheney joined nine Republicans in the House of Representatives, all Democrats, in the impeachment vote. He called it a vote of conscience against Trump’s betrayal of his office and his oath to uphold the Constitution.

In February, the Central Committee of the Republican Party in Wyoming convicted Cheney for his vote. Four Republicans are already fighting against him in 2022.

They include two state lawmakers, Anthony Bouchard, a senator from Chennai, and Chuck Gray, a representative of Casper, who are not well known beyond Wyoming’s two largest cities. The other two Republican opponents are less well known. Wyoming’s top elected officials either supported Cheney or did not consider the impeachment vote.

In the first quarter of 2021, Cheney raised $ 1.54 million, the largest quarterly compensation since his first election campaign in the US House of Representatives in 2016. Bouchard raised about $ 334,000 ին Gray $ 164,000, including $ 133,000.

Cheney insists Republicans remain united in their quest to regain a House-Senate majority in 2022.

“We must return to the existence of ideas, the essence of politics, to give people hope. “And convey that people can trust us, that they can count on us to be a responsible, confident, conservative party,” he said on Wednesday. – I think we have real unity on all these issues.
